Happy Thanksgiving
Happy Thanksgiving to our three readers out there. We had the traditional "Oh my god, you are eating all that and none of it is Weight Watchers approved?" dinner at my Mom and Dad's. Tomorrow is Decorate Mom's House for Christmas day for Emily and me. Kristi has to work.

Day of the Dachshunds
Of all the days to leave the camera back at the house! We went on a nice long beach walk yesterday and met a group of folks with three dachshunds and - of all things - an orange kitten. Roxie had a lot of fun making some new friends, until she got a bit too excited about the kitty (an interactive playtoy - oh my)!
We have been lucky to catch some beautiful October sunshine on our last two trips here to the beach house. Today is gray and wet, but yesterday was amazing.
Emily and I spent this afternoon selecting some 2009 photos to post here, so now we just need Erik to apply his magic wand. Check back soon!

Happy Fall!
We are still behind on photos - what's new? I suppose I could have used my four months of unemployment to learn how to do this myself, but that would have been a productive use of my time and we can't have that....
Emily turns 10 on Friday, the 16th. I am too young to be the mother of a 10-year-old - especially one who's almost as tall as me!

Photo Update
Well it has been a while, but we've been busy. However now we are on vacation for two weeks and I have a chance to catch up.
Just finished posting the last of the 2008 photos. Starting on 2009 tonight.
Now if you'll excuse me it is 75, sunny and the beach is just a short walk away.

Sad Days
For those of you who have not heard, my Aunt and my cousin were murdered at my Aunt's farm by my Aunt's husband. We are, of course, reeling from this staggering loss.
Those of you who knew them know that they were good people who never did anyone a bad turn in their lives. We will miss them both very much. They both worked in law enforcement and their departments have been wonderful in their support for our family.
They were also animal lovers. The list of animals we had to find homes for was quite large, but my cousin's friend appears to have suceeded finding homes for the smaller animals and my Dad found homes for the livestock.
We adopted one of my Aunt's Duchshunds, Roxie Boxie the Doxie. Roxie was found at the farm guarding my Aunt's body as a brave little sentinel. She has now joined our home and appears to be quite happy here and we are very happy to have her.
NOTE: I omit names at my Mother's request to not have this further discussed in the media.

The weather outside is frightful
Happy New Year for all of you using the Julian calendar. We spent the holiday at the beach with my parents and then we stayed through the weekend. Of all the crazy things to happen at the ocean: WE GOT SNOWED IN!!! I put pictures up for our bosses in the 2009 album.
Yes, snowed in. The hills between Hoquiam and Ocean Shores were slicker than owl snot and biggest hill was closed. The only other route out of here is to go through Copalis Crossing in BFE. Didn't seem like a good idea, so we are going to try to get out on Monday.
Weird winter here in the PNW. We had a White Christmas for the first time in over thirty years in Puyallup, with fresh snow on Christmas Eve. We'll have pictures up for the rest of 2008 next week sometime.
